Individual Therapy

People seek therapy for many reasons—whether it's frustration with life, work, a relationship, or to find a sense of self. Feelings of anxiety, depression, isolation, addiction, and other challenges often signal that despite our best efforts, we're out of alignment with our core needs and are relying on ineffective coping strategies. In therapy, we uncover your inner wisdom and resources that can help you transform. Together, we work to create more purpose, joy, energy, and connection. [...more...]

Relationship Counseling

Relationships have the power to bring out the best and the worst in us. They can reopen our earliest wounds, leading to intense conflict and loneliness. I work with gay and straight, monogamous and polyamorous couples on a wide spectrum of issues, including ambivalence, communication issues, infidelity/broken trust. Using somatic therapy, I guide individuals and couples in creating safety, fostering connection, and reigniting intimacy and passion. [...more...]

Trauma Healing

The wound of trauma runs deep, yet the potential for healing has the power to profoundly liberate us. We cannot think our way out of trauma---it alters the brain, nervous system, and body chemistry. Whether you've experienced a singular terrifying event or endured continuous fear, violence or neglect, you can heal.

I work transparently and experientially, and I pace our work to avoid retraumatization. Some people mistakenly believe that if they can reexperience the traumatic feelings, they will heal through catharsis. Trauma does not work this way. We utilize somatic and interpersonal modalities, including EMDR and parts work, to highlight your strengths, identify your limits and develop your unique path to healing.

How therapy works...

Therapy offers a space to discover new parts of ourselves and opens the door to making choices aligned with the life we truly want. While therapy can take many forms, its core purpose is to free us from the angst that aspects of our life are not what we want. In an effort to avoid discomfort, we can create deeper challenges—conflict in relationships, isolation, anxiety, depression, addiction, and other problems.

Whether our issues are rooted in past trauma or present-day stressors, therapy helps us explore new perspectives, expands our emotional capacity, and supports deeper connections—with ourselves and others. We uncover and strengthen internal resources that shift our daily experience into one of greater purpose, joy, vitality, connection, and meaning.
